Come of Conduct for Adults working with Children
Last reviewed May 2025, by Steve Gregson
This code of conduct outlines the conduct that Steve Gregson Photography expects from all our staff. This includes anyone who is undertaking duties for the organisation. Everyone who works with children is acting in a position of authority, responsibility, and trust. Adult staff are often seen as role models by children, so it's essential that
they behave in an appropriate way and are able to recognise and report any behaviour in others that might be a cause for concern. Steve Gregson Photography is responsible for making sure everyone taking part in our activities have
seen, understood, and agreed to follow the code of conduct, and that they understand the consequences of inappropriate relationship and behaviour.
Appropriate relationships
You should:
• promote relationships that are based on openness, honesty, trust, and respect
• avoid showing favouritism
• be patient with others
• exercise caution when you are discussing sensitive issues with children
• ensure your contact with children is appropriate and relevant to the nature of the activities
• ensure that there is always a chaperone present when you are working with children
-
if a situation arises where you are alone with a child, ensure you go and locate a chaperone to alert them
Inappropriate behaviour - When working with children and young people, you must not:
• allow concerns or allegations to go unreported
• take unnecessary risks
• smoke, consume alcohol or use illegal substances in their presence
• develop inappropriate relationships with children
• make physical contact unless it’s part of the show blocking which is supervised by chaperones
• take photography or video footage of the children, being mindful of when they might be inadvertently in the
background of images
• make inappropriate promises to children
• engage in behaviour that is in any way abusive including having any form of sexual contact with a child
• let children have your personal contact details (mobile number, email, or postal address) or have contact with
them via a social media account
• act in a way that can be perceived as threatening or intrusive
• patronise or belittle children and young people
• use foul language
• make sarcastic, insensitive, derogatory, or sexually suggestive comments or gestures to or in front of children
In the first instance, if you have any concerns regarding inappropriate behaviour from any company member, please discuss with Steve Gregson
